  • One of the best shows on TV, people. Season 5 starts on March 22 with an episode about obesity. The 29th epsiode seems to be about Wal-Mart. Good stuff. Yay!

In the meantime, choose any of the SHO channels you get (we get 14!) and take a look. They’re running last season all over the place building up to the Season 5 premier.

I need to head out tonight and score a haircut. I’m like 3 weeks overdue. I should’ve gone early in the month, but the bad weather had everyone going nowhere for two weeks then I got sick as hell last week. So I think I’ll finally get out tonight and get it done.

The worst part is that with my stupid spikey haircut (that’s right about maximum useable length in that pinball machine shot) when it gets even a little over-length, there’s nothing I can do. I slap my Pirates baseball cap on and head out.

Funny how thing change in life though and now I consider that ‘long’ hair. (I suppose for my situation it technically is, but still)

    Here’s yours truly chillin’ at a friend’s house around X-mas 1995*:

I guess I’ve always had a thing for not shaving too. I rock! \m/

*I loved that Sound Forge shirt. I lost it one year when a bunch of us went to Cedar Point. I was dismayed to return home and find in not in my stuff. No one had it and Sandcastle Suites claimed they didn’t find it either. Sigh.

So tonight it became official – the big Disney, Universal, Sea World, Busch, every other little park in the area trip got cancelled for the second consecutive year. Bittersweet at best.

We originally planned on doing the big trip last summer, but then the job offer came across for the wife and the move to Dayton and all that followed just made it impossible. We promised ourselves (and the kids) that it would definitely happen in 2007.

Then this past month came and it was time to start working out the financials, details, plans, etc. (the fun stuff)

Once the initial numbers got tallied we just kind of looked at each other. It wasn’t that we couldn’t afford it, it was more that the money could be better used at this point. We still have a handful of material and monetary goals we’d like to meet and after weighing the options, it became obvious that putting Orlando off for one more year (shit, we’ve lived in Florida twice and my daughter visited Disney at least 10 times before she was 4, we did IOA within the first few months it was even open – things like that) so one more year wouldn’t kill anyone and the benefits of putting that money elsewhere right now are good ones and virtually guarantee that we can easily afford a huge-ass, pimpin’ trip for 2008. The kids will still only be 6 & 10 next summer, so that works out really well. We even justify it with reasoning that at those ages there will be an awful lot we can all do together rather than breaking off for individual needs.

So it sucks that we have to put off Orlando for another season, but it’s nice to be taking care of some other stuff for a change.

So here’s how things look after two weeks:

    Ant Gel Habitat

That’s a long way from day 1. They’ve filled the thing with tunnels. The funny thing was they generally worked non-stop up to that point and then once the space was pretty much used up, they chilled. They’ve been pretty dormant since then.

Only two casualties total to this point. Not bad given a projected lifespan of 1-to-3 months. However, the novelty has worn off and like most things the kids get excited about, 2 weeks later I’m the only one paying attention.

Exactly the reason I don’t think we need a dog.
