  • Ahhhh, it had to happen eventually. I think finally taking a loss breaks a lot of the tension. We lost to a team that was every bit our equal (probably better) on defense, but with the most one-dimensional offense of any team we faced. While many teams employ the approach, nothing sucks worse than when there’s on kid who is just physically superior and the team opts to repeatedly give him the ball. That’s how we got beat today. One kid who just outmatched all of our kids. Plus, these guys really wanted it. We were the undefeated team rolling into their town and they (with only one loss) really wanted to prove they could take us down…and they did. You could just feel how much it meant to the kids, the coaches – even the parents on the other side. This game was a big deal to them and they did exactly what the hoped to do.

I dare say this was our first match-up with a team that could be considered our equal, so that was a bit of an eye opener.

Only two more regular games before the single-elimination tournament begins late this month.
