Call Me Shovel Boy

05/23/2009

Seems like I spend more time with a shovel in my hands than anything else lately. Today I chose a day with the shovel over a day at Kings Island. I would like to get down there for the Action Sports thingy this weekend, but today I just wasn’t in the mood when I got up. I said, “Fuck the heat and crowds at Kings Island, I’m going to dig up the yard today!” (presumably, in the heat, but with no crowds…good enough for me)

I think I mentioned the landscaping around the house before in a post. It’s fine, I just don’t like it. A little too random for my tastes. I like a little uniformity. Our remedy is to just dig it all up and then go from there.

Today I did the “L” shape that goes around the garage and to the front door. It’s completely bare now. I kick so much shovel ass that it’s not funny.

So between that and the area near the driveway that I did last week, all that’s left is the front of the house on the other side of the front (stage right) and anything we decide to do around the deck in back. They have some random bushes (I think that was the old owners’ theme) back there right now. I’d like to give it a more ‘finished’ look.

The big lilac bush is still at the corner of the garage because Jamie isn’t sure if she wants to leave it or not. I’m undecided, I could go either way. It’s huge and smells awesome in bloom. Still, we had this other huge bush by the front door and the second I got it out, we loved the open look it gave the front of the house, so maybe the lilac need to go too. We’ll see.

All I know is that me and my shovel can kick you and your shovel’s ass.
