The Hillbilly Hot Rod is gone. It was an impulsive buy, a fun experiment and a useful little vehicle – but it was time to go.
My least favorite part of the car buying process is the ‘game’ of it all. The haggling, the mindfucks, the deception – I hate playing the fucking game. So I decided to try something different this time. We went to Carmax.
I can’t complain about a single aspect of the entire process. Took around an hour or so and we left with a check for about $1500 more than Kelley Blue Book suggested the HHR was worth as a trade-in. No games, no haggling, no trying to hide numbers in pages of paperwork – just an offer and a check. Seriously, I’ll never do a trade-in at a dealership or a private sale again. Carmax has a lifetime customer. I can’t recommend the process enough. I imagine buying would be just as pain free. Good mojo.
So now we’re back to one vehicle which might be a little awkward until we pick up something new. The best part is we already have financing wrapped up, so we really only have to focus on getting the right car at the right price. No trade-in haggling. No financing issues. Just give us the car for $X and we’ll write you a check.
Now to find the new car…
