Turn The Tub Around

I see this commercial all the time. Its one of those things that simultaneously makes me cringe and want to watch at the same time – the truest definition of a train wreck. It has to be the worst commercial – the worst idea for a commercial – in a while. Unintentionally horrible. But I have to watch it when it’s on. It sticks in my head. I secretly long to dance with a tub of margarine. I hate this commercial.

Even worse is that there’s a website, contests, a full-length music video – even a ‘making of’ clip about the video…all based on this crap.

This is why the rest of the world hates us…and why we’re great.

The Heavy – How You Like Me Now

The British band blows the roof off the dump with “How You Like Me Now,” including an unprecedented encore by request from Dave.

Dave’s reaction is classic. Never seen him do that in the 20-some years I’ve been watching. The encore might be even better than the first run.

Leno – Now and Then

A couple of videos here. The first is from tonight’s Jay Leno Show (1/18). He’s going into damage control mode. I think this sounds like the talk of a man toeing the company line, but I’m of the belief that this is pretty much how it played out:

And just for fun here’s a clip from 2004 with Jay talking about the original deal for him to leave and Conan to take over in 2009:

80′s Video Dating Montage

What I’d really like is a “Where Are They Now” follow-up.

USPS Clown Commercial

This makes me chuckle everytime. It’s not that special of an idea on paper, but everything about the commercial is done right and the actors play it perfectly and that makes something average in to something funny.

What Up With That? (some more)

It mustn’t just be my Kenan crush. Last night “What Up With That” ran right after the monologue, so somebody is liking it. I thought last night’s was the weakest yet, but still worth watching.

Probably the best SNL all season. The cold opening was finally something other than the completely unfunny political stuff they do. In fact, they opened with a favorite of mine and my daughter’s – The Lawrence Welk Show. Not the funniest one, but still laughable. (seemed to be the theme on the repeat skits, huh?) Not sure what to add as the bonus funny, so I’ll just say you can’t go wrong checking out any of last night’s show – not a real stinker in the entire bunch.

Prisencolinensinainciusol

In a nutshell:

An Italian singer wrote this song with gibberish to sound like English. If you’ve ever wondered what other people think Americans sound like, this is it.

All I know is the tune fucking destroys and it’ll be stuck in my head forever.

Crazy Bruce’s Liquors

This commercial cracks my wife and I up everytime – and we’ve watched it way too many times in the past two days. I don’t know why, but I love this. I think the kids are sick of us singing it though.

The Past Decade

…according to 9-year-olds.

This is cute and made me feel more than a little old…even if I do have kids this age.

So much has defined this past decade, but imagine what it would be like if the past 9 years were the only years you had lived through. Yahoo! News editor Allison Louie-Garcia spoke to fourth graders in Orange County, Calif. to get some perspective on the ’00s from those who have experienced only it.

Sex With The Iron Shiek

This is full of all kinds of funny:

Had a hard time choosing a bonus funny because the Tiger Woods thing was great, but it would only make my man crush on Kenan Thompson seem even creepier and the Shy Ronnie short is pretty great (even if it’s a little obvious).

What Up With That? (Again)

I liked it the first time and liked it even more this time. Love the the idea of using Lindsey Buckingham as a running joke in the skit.

Still not sure why, but I really enjoy these. I think I kinda just enjoy Kenan Thompson. I remember thinking he was funny back when he was on Nickelodeon even though he generally played the straight man in the Kenan and Kel duo.

Bonus Funny (I usually think they try too hard on the digital clips and find them to be generally overrated, but I like this one – maybe it’s Kenan, huh?):

Tuba Friction

I found this quite amusing:

Scared Straight

Totally enjoyed this last night – especially when they do Do-Re-Mi right about 3:04.

Bonus hilariousness:

Magical Musical Thing

It’s funny how the mind works. I would not have remembered this product, let alone the commercial, on my own accord if I lived to be 106. But as soon as I saw the first few seconds of this commercial, it all flooded back to me and I not only vividly remembered these, but also knew the commercial almost word for word (note for note?). I’d have been like 5 or 6 back when this ad ran.

I find the fact that the mind works that way pretty fascinating.

What Up With That?

SNL has generally been pretty weak this year, but for some reason I thoroughly enjoy this:

This Is Good Parenting

I’m hoping they at least gave it to the kid afterward, but even if they did this is pretty brutal – geez…

Light Bulbs

I’ve already switched out to CFLs in most of the house – mostly because they’re so damn cheap.

Protect Your Chicken From Dokken

This amuses me way more than it should.

Play Of The Week

Just realized a play from my son’s football team was picked as week two’s “Play Of The Week”. This is from 2 weeks back. Can’t tell if my son is in on this play or not. If so, he’s on the O-line somewhere.
