Another parental bragging rights post. Just skip it like I probably skip the posts you make about your kids.

My daughter auditioned for some play at school. I don’t know all the details, but they’ll be performing two short scenes or something – each one is like 10 pages. She scored a part in both. In one she has a minor part with three lines at the end. In the other she is the main character and pretty much every other line for the duration of the play is her.

Today we went the 75 miles to the regional Power Of The Pen competition. She seemed confident. Didn’t finish top 15, but the top 25-ish move on to the state level. She’ll find out later if she qualified.

My son’s class has been doing multiplication drills. You start with your 1′s (1×1=1 1×2=2, you know, the 1′s) and there’s 30 equations on a page. You have three minutes to finish. Get them all corrent and you move on the next day (to 2′s, 3′s etc all the way to 12′s). Get all the way through your 12′s and you start over with one minute to finish. As of Friday my son attempted his one-minute 12′s and feels pretty confident that he nailed it. If so, he’ll be the first boy in the class to make that point. (a couple of girls have already) The next level is a mix of all the factors in one minute. Beyond that is division, I believe. He was pretty proud.

There was another thing of my son’s I wanted to mention, but I just lost it. Fuck. No idea what it was now. How sucky of a parent am I? I know I had two things that each kid has done lately. Oh well, if I think of it, I’ll update this post.
