We went to see the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie last night. It was cute. We liked the first and the second was more of the same.

Before the movie they showed 7 trailers for movies targeting the same audience that was in the theatre (as they always do). I don’t remember them all but they included Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Hop, Smurfs, Disney’s Prom and some others. They seemed to get worse and worse with each trailer.

The thing that really struck me was that in a theatre with a captive audience of 30 kids in the 8-14 range, these trailers got no reaction at all. The silence and lack of giving a shit was so obvious that it was almost awkward. It made me wonder who watches that stuff. I mean, I watch some shit movies and enjoy them, but really…these movies were absolute crap and even the kids knew it.
