I mowed the grass today. It was the first time I’ve had to since August 13th. We have a decent sized lot (right around 3/4 of an acre – not bad for the suburbs) but a large chunk is wooded and doesn’t need mowed. The rest is tree filled and I never really considered how little I’d have to mow the grass. Not that I mind. I haven’t even used 5 gallons of gas over two summers now. How long can that gas sit in the garage and still be usable? Who cares.
Since this was surely the last time I’d be mowing this year, I decided to see exactly how far I travel to do a standard mow. I fired up my phone GPS and the lawn mower and started pushing.
Turns out that to mow our yard requires me to walk 1.81 miles.
Now I know.
