Haven’t been posting much “me” stuff lately. Mostly because things have been weird.
I’ve been having a run of shit luck that’s included everything from “shorting half the house by hitting a plugged in extention cord with the lawn mower” to “chipping off a chunk of a molar eating a piece of bread” – just a weird run the last couple of months.
Today my wife is informing her staff that as of the end of the month she will no longer be their boss. After 4 1/2 years (the longest she’s worked at one property since I met her almost 20 years ago), she’s moving on to a new opportunity. It’s a lateral move in terms of right now, but looks to be a big step forward in terms of potential opportunity down the road. It’s also the first time since we’ve been married (1996) that a new job didn’t mean a move to a new city or state. So it feels a little weird. My natural reaction is to have to start packing and researching our new home. This time all that changes is where she drives to in the morning.
Even though this is the earliest we’ve gotten sorta-real snow around here since we moved here, it’s also the least it has felt like Christmas in a long time. We’re just not feeling it around here. Hopefully we’ll get a tree this weekend. I did put that big honkin’ wreath in the entry way window though. It was much bigger and heavier than expected. Looks awesome, but my son and I had to toss together a support with spare wood we had lying around to hold it up. There was no way that thing was hanging in the window without anchoring some serious shit to the wall and we didn’t want to fuck it up like that.
So yeah. That’s where things stand right now. Weird luck. New jobs. Bah Humbug.
