Tonight was the yearly high school game where all the littler (is that a word?) kids come out and get to go down on the field and make a tunnel for the varsity kids to run through. Just a chance to recognize the younger players and let them see the bigger kids play. We hung out and watched the game this year and scored some good facetime with the coaches and a couple of other parents. I’m so good at faking social skills that it’s silly. A couple well placed funnies and you’re in.

So yeah, we spent the evening at a high school football game. I didn’t even do that in high school. I’ve finally become the guy I want to punch in the face.

Speaking of football, my son (and the entire 3rd grade orange team) have a big game tomorrow. We go up against one of the other undefeated teams. 3-0 vs 3-0. Both teams have offenses that can strike and defenses that can stop the best. Should be a hell of a game and in the big scheme of things, its a huge game in terms of judging where we stand in terms of holding our own. Last year’s tournament loss still stings and is the subject of conversations and while no one says it out loud, there’s expectations to really make a run for it this year. These boys are fucking good. It’s gonna be interesting to see what they do against another team that has a rep for being good.

It’s a late afternoon game, so I’ll check in with the results tomorrow evening sometime.
