Seems like it’s one thing after the other around here lately.

I might have mentioned in passing before that we kind of went overboard with finances since we got into the house. We’ve done a lot of work/upgrades (and still have a long way to go to be to our liking) and had a huge christmas last year and stuff.

It put us in a place where we had to scale back a little and start to play some catch-up.

Then late summer comes. Tons of school expenses – supplies, pictures, extra stuff, field trips, events. It’s insane how quickly it all adds up. Extra stuff the kids do (like football) costs. Both kids birthdays are in the fall. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas – the holidays cost money. Seemingly a never ending barrage of costs that just kick us in the nuts when we don’t need kicked in the nuts.

Then some random shit luck. The wife’s car had some shit go down that came in close to four digits to repair last month. And then this month some more that was completely unrelated. That’s when we realized the car is 6 years old. I’d trade it in an instant, but the aforementioned catching up prevents it. Then this week our water softener goes loopy. Great! Another couple hundred bucks.

Just seems like we can’t catch a break when one would really help.

Hoping we pop out of the other end of this in a decent position and that 2011 is a little kinder than most of 2010 has been financially.
