The sophomore season is always the hardest for any TV show, so I'm hopeful season 3 will return to the great form of the first season. In season 2, there just didn't seem to be any plot. Rather than trying to tell a story, the writers just seemed to think, "Let's try to get away with as much sex, drugs, and profanity as we can." I'm not a prude, but I need more than that to keep my interest. By the end of season 2, I realized the only character I liked was Becca. The adults were all a bunch of douchebags that I found uninteresting and deserved to have life shit on them. I'm hoping season 3 will be better, but I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD. He makes for such a lovable asshole. 2) The complex relationships are certainly a huge part of the show, but I think the excellent casting job they did helps as well. 1) David Duchovny absolutely owns his role on the show.
