Haven’t been online much the last few days. Been stepping away from the screen to take a breather and a quick glance at real life.
Spent Sunday finally getting to the shed. I’d only been in it twice since we moved in and kept procrastinating because the two times I was in there I saw nothing but junk that needed cleaned out, bugs, bugs and more bugs, and a little field mouse. I finally sucked it up on Sunday and decided to get it done.
The junk was just that – junk. If there’s one thing our family isn’t, it’s pack rats. We don’t hold on to crap. If I don’t need it and can’t foresee needing it in the near future then it gets tossed. The shed was full of stuff like that – ripped screens, random cans of paint with next to nothing left in them, a bag of concrete that had broken open and was put inside a garbage bag, a misshapen piece of plexiglass…you get the idea.
I cleared it all out. Then I go on the task of sweeping it all out. Lots of dirt. Lots of bugs. Lots of mouse shit. Then I took down the pegboard from the back wall. The I went around the outside with a broom and knocked off no less than 7 wasp, bee ot hornet nests and countless inhabited spider webs. Then I went to Lowes and bought poison…lots of poison. I sprayed the outside with wasp spray. Then did the whole inside and perimeter with some home protection crap that killed pretty much any bug you could think of. Then I set off a fogger inside of the shed and left it for the night.
On Monday I opened it back up, removed the fogger and put a bunch of mouse poison bait food thingies inside and around the shed. I’ll leave that for a little while and check on it in a few days.
I’m taking the shed back! (and why shouldn’t I now that it has that sweet path running to it?)
Our new neighbors moved in this weekend too. Remember me mentioning the house for sale diagonal from us? Yeah, well my observations about the lack of recession in my neck of the woods must hold some water because, less than two months later, the house is sold and the new owners are in. They appear to be even younger than us (and we were the young ones when we moved it) and now we’re not the ‘new’ people anymore.
Last night I got a hot fudge sundae at DQ.
I also got paid on a couple of those invoices, so as soon as I get to the bank, we’ll be able to get back on the brick retaining wall/landscaping out front.
I think that brings my blog up to speed with my life. Mostly for my own sake, but if you enjoy reading along, then it’s for you too.
