  • We went out Friday night and did the furniture store circuit. As expected we found a “take the furniture now and pay nothing until your dead” dealy-o going down. We did no interest until the next leap year. Yeah – 4 years interest free. Spending someone else’s money is always good. Spending someone else’s money for free is the kind of deal you don’t pass up.

The catch was you had to spend X amount of dollars and put 25% down. That’s not that big of deal except that X amount of dollars was the equivalent of 4 or 5 sofas. (stop and think about the math for a moment)

But still spending someone else’s money for free is awfully tempting…and we do need a new mattress…and we’ve never really owned a real bed in the sense of headboard, footboard and rails as a cohesive unit…and we have been wanting to move up to a King for a while now…and we can spend someone else’s money for free.

So we ended up with this sofa (and matching love seat):

And we picked out a nice new pillowtop king-size mattress. The we had to decide on a bed. We almost bought this one big black one. Like really close. Like holding my fingers less than an inch apart close to buying this:

    Say No To This Bed

But in all of it’s gigantic, obnoxious, 80′s excess glory – it was indeed just a tad too cheesy to commit to. That’s the kind of furniture you have a one night stand with, not a relationship.

So responsibility got the better of us and we settled down with this respectable piece (we think – we’re honestly not sure if that’s the exact bed, or just similar):

sleigh beds ring - are you listening?

And that was enough to put us over ‘X amount of dollars’ and let us pay not a cent of interest until I’m almost 39.

Everything won’t be delivered until March 20th though. Of course we couldn’t possibly pick something in stock. That’d be too easy.

I’m still kind of wondering if we should’ve have gone with the first bed…I suppose I’ll forever wonder if that fling would’ve been worth it.
