So I’m expecteding my DVD burner to be delivered thanks to the info on the UPS site. Somewhere around 6pm I realized it never came. I pop on to check the tracking info only to find this:
What!? That says the delivery dude left it on the porch an hour and a half earlier…funny because that’s right about the time I was actually out front – and a truck never even went by, let alone stopped.
I opened the door to check. Nothing. I even walked out and checked around the garage thinking maybe the dude left it out there. Nothing. I kind of scoured the neighbors porches/entries hoping to spot a misplaced box. Still nothing.
I was fuming. I hate when shit doesn’t go smoothly. I hit the UPS site again to see how the hell to get my package. There’s a million and one rules and even then, there’s not a lot I could do…then on top of that the package had to be missing for 24 hours or some shit.
I’m sitting around stewing over this one dumb thing and the doorbell rings. I just knew it was going to be someone bringing me the mis-delivered box. Sure enough and Asian guy and his cute blond wife are standing there with a box. I thanked them and apologized (I dunno why, but I did) and they headed off.
The funny thing was that I didn’t recognize them. They certainly didn’t live in my immediate vicinity. So I ran upstairs and watched out of the front bedroom window. The headed down our street to the main road, hung a right and walked off out of sight.
Where the fuck did the UPS guy leave the box!? He wasn’t even close! Like…totally wrong area of the neighborhood. Fucker!
Anyhow, the burner kicks ass and the black looks better in my case than I thought it would. I’m now able to do a full, single-layer DVD in under 5 minutes (vs the 15 it took on the old one) – so that’s cool.
Damn. I think I would have just asked them where they lived. UPS has really become weirdly unreliable.
At least you had updated information. My USPS package coming in has not been updated in 3 days but we all know the USPS sucks.
For the record, The order is for another battery charger on eBay so that I can charge my three batteries at Disney. One charger wouldn’t be able to do the job each night.
You need more hobbies if you’re obsessing over the UPS tracker. ;)
Seriously though, I have a box with gaffers tape and F connectors sitting on my porch. I sure hope it’s there when I get home!
It sounds funny today…and even did when I wrote this last night…but I was pissed. :)
DHL delivered the Palm and Digital Cam my mom ordered for my dad’s anniversary present, and they delivered it to the wrong person who ‘uh…never got anything…’ on his porch (riiiight, silly druggy). We had to wait an extra week and a half to get it delivered.
Then they almost did the same thing with his Laptop. We’ve started having them deliver to the office where we work. Everyone has to know where to find the Welfare Office.
